Title of project:
Association between cardiovascular risk factors in early-life and structural neuroimaging metrics in young adulthood
Proposal summary:

Accumulating evidence implicates poor cardiovascular health in later life as a major risk factor for compromised brain health and eventual dementia. How early the association between cardiovascular and brain health begins to emerge, however, is unclear. Numerous modifiable factors known to influence cardiovascular disease (e.g. smoking, cholesterol, glucose, BMI, blood pressure, etc) are known to emerge during childhood, but their relationship to differences within the developing brain at this young age remain poorly understood.
